Breakfast Smoothies

I’ve been making smoothies for years. I like to experiment – I don’t follow recipes really, just throw stuff in the Vitamix and hope it tastes good. Sometimes I’ve come up short but most times they’re good.

I’ve been learning more about raw foods and digestive enzymes thanks to Dr Lewis @ Commack Wellness. He demonstrated this last night at Whole Foods and I tried it myself this morning. It was delicious. Even Megan had some – had a sweetness to it – and said she would have it again!

Here’s a list of ingredients: about 1/4 cup almond milk or other liquid base, raw kale or super greens powder, raw honey, almond butter, blueberries (I used strawberries this morning), bananas, flaxseeds (Dr Lewis used oil – I’m not sold on the oil though), and some ice. Blend for about 30-45 seconds and you’re good to enjoy!

The raw foods have the digestive enzymes you need but may not have as they decrease as we get older and eat less raw foods.

Try it and let me know how you make out. Other suggestions for smoothies?
